First Philec Solar Corporation (FPSC) is a joint venture formed between First Philec and SunPower Philippines Manufacturing Limited, a manufacturing facility of SunPower, San Jose USA. FPSC was incorporated in October 2007 and started operations in May 2008. It is the first large-scale silicon wafer slicing company in the Philippines.
FPSC's main products are mcro thin silicon wafers primarily used by its customers for solar panel or module fabrication. Other applications are also possible for products that use solar energy.
Located in Batangas, FPSC has grown impressively since its inception, ramping its production facilities to full capacity two years ahead of its business plans. In December 2010, FPSC inaugurated its second production facility to house tha additional highly automated machines which brought capacity to 240 million wafers a year, capable of supporting 720 MW of solar energy.
FPSC aims to be the leader in high quality slicing for high efficiency PV Solar cells. It seeks to partner with its customers in achieving their cost targets by providing them with a consistent supply of best value wafers. To do this, FPSC will focus on four critical factors: Quality, Cost, Delivery and Technology.
A PV Technology Center was set up in 2010 to further enhance the sector's competitiveness. Alliances with foreign institutes are being developed to gain access to cutting edge technology. At FPSC, process improvements are being undertaken to continuously bring down cost per wafer, and to increase the value proposition of the company to its customers.
