Competitive Strengths
First Philec derives its competitive strengths from its parent, First Philippine Holdings Corporation (FPHC), as well as from its solid manufacturing track record complemented by a seasoned management team.
- Strong parent. The Company’s majority shareholder, FPHC, is one of the oldest and largest conglomerates in the Philippines, with interests in, amongst others, power generation, power distribution, construction, manufacturing, and property. FPHC is one of the core holding companies of the Lopez Group, which allows the Company to draw on its extensive business network, local business knowledge, relationships and pool of experienced managers and technical personnel.
- Proven expertise in manufacturing operations excellence with a solid track record of success. First Philec boasts of its excellent manufacturing excellence expertise honed by years of experience. It has consistently been able to remain competitive and withstand pressures on its margins through effective cost-cutting and efficiency improvement measures, as well as prudent management of its labor relations. The company vigorously pursues its ideals of excellence with the continued and effective application of the following initiatives: Lean Manufacturing, Malcolm Baldrige Quality Program, and Six Sigma. Its subsidiaries have won international recognition for its successful projects.
- Strong management team with global manufacturing experience. The Company’s senior management team has an average of 25 years or experience working in various fields of manufacturing including semiconductors, distribution transformers, and multinational consumer products. Besides having an expertise in operations management, they have established wide personal networks and possess an in-depth local knowledge of their respective industries.
- Well established partnerships with global players. Through its operating subsidiaries in the Electrical Utilities and Electronics Sectors, First Philec has established relationships with internationally recognized companies in their respective industries including Cooper Power Systems, ABB, Hitachi Metals, Sumitomo Corporation and SunPower Manufacturing Philippines.
